Illu Peqqissarfik
The foundation establishes Illu peqqissarfik – “House” of healing. The aim is to develop places for all in Greenland, to come together in a circle. Where traditional ways of healing meet the contemporary way. Places where Elders can share their wisdom and knowledge with the next generation.
Complementary and traditional healing work will be given and taught, in order to create healing for intergenerational trauma. We work together with our Greenlandic students to enable them to work with an individual’s energy consciousness system to create physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health. In that way the wisdom and richness that Indigenous people carry inside can come to a full blossom.
Drum dance is an important aspect of Greenlandic culture. Drumdancing brings joy, strength and most of all a deep connection with your roots and ancestors. Above that it has been scientifically proven that music has a healing capacity. We want to make traditional drumdance teachings accessible for every Greenlandic child.
Illu peqqissarfik will build the bridge between the Indigenous wisdom of the Far North and the Western world. As our Western world is so much in need of healing too. We have forgotten how to live with our land and how to live in peace. When healing energy starts to flow, the Indigenous people of Greenland will inspire us how to live in peace with each other and with our land.
United Nations Women
March 11, 2023.
An important event took place. There was an virtual gathering between the United Nations Women and Kalaallit Inuit Women & Allies.
Kalaallit is the Greenlandic word for the indigenous people of Greenland.
The women spoke impressively about political problems, trauma of colonization and forced adoption.
You can also hear beautiful traditional drum-chanting and the song ‘Prayer for peace”.
The Native Greenland Foundation was able to contribute with financial means and technical assistence. Miranda, our chairwoman, also spoke at the event about the foundation’s dream to build a bridge between the West and Greenland, through the foundation.
This meeting was very important to give attention within the United Nations to the difficult challenges, but also the strength of the kalaallith (indigenous people) of Greenland.

Your donation makes it possible for us to establish Illu peqqissarfik and sponsor our Greenlandic students and children. Thank you very much for your contribution! Qujanaq!
